Morning Prayer

Surrender the day to God before it begins. A prayer for guidance, protection, and peace for the hours ahead.

Good morning, Father. Before the noise begins — before the emails and the demands and the to-do list takes over — I want You to have the first words of my day. Before I check my phone, before I rehearse my worries, before the weight of what’s ahead settles on my shoulders, I am choosing to start here. With You.

I don’t know what today holds. I don’t know if it will be kind to me or if it will knock me down. I don’t know if I’ll face hard conversations, bad news, unexpected heartbreak, or just the quiet grinding weight of an ordinary hard day. But You do. You already see every hour between now and the moment my head hits the pillow tonight. And because You see it, I don’t have to be afraid of it.

I give You this day, Lord. Not just the parts I can’t handle — all of it. The meetings, the meals, the mundane moments that seem small but shape the person I am becoming. I give You my words — let them be kind, let them be true, let them build up and not tear down. I give You my thoughts — guard them from anxiety, from bitterness, from the mental loops that drain me before noon.

Go before me today. Prepare the path. If there are obstacles, give me wisdom to navigate them. If there are people who need encouragement, use me. If there are temptations, show me the way out before I walk in. Order my steps, Father. Not my agenda — Yours.

Give me eyes to see the people around me the way You see them. The coworker who is rude might be carrying grief I know nothing about. The stranger at the grocery store might be praying for a kind word. Help me slow down enough to notice, to care, to be present instead of rushing through the day with my head down and my heart closed.

And Lord, give me peace. Not the kind the world gives — the kind that depends on circumstances. Give me the kind that holds steady when the ground shakes. The kind that lets me take a deep breath in the middle of chaos and remember that You are still on the throne and my life is still in Your hands.

Today is a gift. I don’t want to waste it on worry. I don’t want to waste it on autopilot. I want to be fully here, fully present, fully Yours. So walk with me, Father. From this first moment to the last. Let me end this day more like Jesus than I started it.

In the name of Jesus, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, I pray.

Amen.

How to pray this prayer

01

Pray before you scroll

Make this the first thing you do when you wake up. Before your phone, before social media, before the news. Give God the first fruits of your attention.

02

Read it slowly, out loud

Let your own voice set the tone for the day. Speaking truth over your morning is like laying the foundation before building the house.

03

Make it personal

Name the specific things you are facing today. The meeting you’re dreading. The conversation you’re avoiding. The decision you need wisdom for. Give it to God before you carry it yourself.
